Dr. Nicolas Nanninga: Transforming Lives Through Chiropractic and Acupuncture Care

Meet Dr. Nicolas Nanninga, a dedicated chiropractor with a passion for providing exceptional care and cutting-edge resources to his patients. Born and raised in LeMars, Iowa, Dr. Nanninga's journey into chiropractic medicine was inspired by a high school football neck injury that led him to seek treatment from a local chiropractor. This experience not only alleviated his chronic neck pain but also ignited his desire to help others through chiropractic care.

Dr. Nanninga's athletic background, coupled with his personal encounter with the transformative power of chiropractic, guided him towards a career in healthcare. After completing his college baseball career at Minnesota State, Mankato, he pursued his dream of becoming a Doctor of Chiropractic. In 2007, he graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, IA, marking the beginning of his mission to positively impact lives.

The following summer, Dr. Nanninga established Discover Chiropractic in Des Moines, where he has been dedicated to serving patients in the greater Des Moines area and beyond ever since. His commitment to excellence is evident in his extensive training in modern acupuncture and proficiency in various chiropractic and physiotherapy techniques.

Specializing in the "specific prone" technique, Dr. Nanninga combines his foundational training in Gonstead, Diversified, Extremities, and Zone Technique to provide personalized and effective care to his patients. His expertise extends beyond patient care, as he actively participates as a speaker at both local and national chiropractic conferences.

Dr. Nanninga is a proud member of the Iowa Chiropractic Society, the Acupuncture Society of America, and the Zone School of Healing. Additionally, he contributes to the chiropractic community as a member/owner of Pinnacle Chiropractic System, a national chiropractic group that focuses on teaching colleagues how to establish and run successful, service-based offices built on referrals.

Outside the office, Dr. Nanninga shares a fulfilling life with his wife, Kimberly, and their three children, Miles, Maggie, and Marley. They cherish their time outdoors, enjoying activities such as boating and traveling, fostering a strong sense of family unity.

Kimberly Nanninga, RD, LD

Dietitian

I am a wife to Nick and a busy mother of three, helping women find peace with food and heal their bodies through the transformative power of nutrition and an anti-diet approach.

From a young age, I struggled with various digestive problems, which eventually led to the removal of my gallbladder at 17. However, this removal caused even more issues as my body had to readjust to food digestion. If you have undergone a similar experience, you understand the challenges.

But through my own research and diet modifications, I started to feel better. I saw my body heal, and this sparked my passion for health and nutrition. Yikes, right? But by doing my own research and implementing changes in my diet, I started to feel better and saw my body heal. This is how my love for health and nutrition truly began.

I started to gather all the information and then altered my diet, eating regularly, prioritizing breakfast, and incorporating exercise. When these changes were combined, I started feeling great.

A few years later, I enrolled in Iowa State University to major in Dietetics. During my college years, I had the opportunity to intern with a hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, where I worked with dietitians and learned a lot. This experience led me to my first job as a dietitian for Hy-Vee.

Today, I own my own business and my goal is to help MANY women fuel their bodies properly each day. My ultimate objective is to bring freedom to all areas of my life and yours!
